First Aid at Work

The qualification covers knowledge such as the roles and responsibilities of the first aider, how to assess an incident and recognising signs and symptoms of injury and illness. The qualification also covers first aid skills in CPR and use of an AED and assisting a casualty who is suffering from major injury and illness.

Emergency First Aid at Work

The qualification covers knowledge such as the roles and responsibilities of the first aider, how to assess an incident and recognising signs and symptoms of injury and illness. The qualification also covers first aid skills in CPR and use of an AED.

Paediatric First Aid

Subjects covered include the roles and responsibilities of a paediatric first aider, how to provide first aid to an infant or child who is unresponsive, how to administer cardiopulmonary resuscitation and use of an automated external defibrillator. It also covers how to administer first aid to an infant or child who is choking or suffering from hypovolemic shock.

Food Safety

This qualification is ideal for anyone working in the catering and hospitality industry (or those about to start work in the industry). Learners gaining this qualification will know that food safety is the responsibility of everyone involved in the storage, preparation, cooking service and handling of food.

Personal License

This regulated qualification is ideal for those working in, or preparing to work in, any industry that involves the retail sale of alcohol and who wishes to become a personal licence holder.

Conflict Management

This regulated qualification is ideal for anyone who requires training in conflict management. It is appropriate for a wide range of sectors and is suitable for anyone who has a customer facing role, dealing with service users or the public. It is also a useful qualification for individuals who would like a better understanding of how to prevent conflict situations from arising and who would like to gain more confidence in being able to deal with conflict situations.

Award in Education and Training

The Highfield Level 3 Award in Education and Training (RQF) has been designed to provide an introduction to teaching for individuals who would like to work or currently work within FE Colleges, Independent Training Providers and/or Local Authorities.

T.A.Q.A.

This qualification is a Level 3 qualification and is intended for those who wish to assess both occupational competence in vocational skills, also knowledge and understanding within the work environment. The purpose of TAQA is to train assessors to attain competence in the current assessment standards. These are the qualifications that will equip a wide range of assessors, trainers, facilitators and teachers to support learners.

Understanding Autism

Autism is a spectrum condition that affects how a person communicates with others and how they interpret the world around them. There are around 700,000 people in the UK with autism – more than 1 in every 100. Having a clear understanding of the misconceptions, diagnoses and support surrounding autism are just some of the essential skills needed when working in mental health.

Understanding Behaviour that Challenges

Challenging behaviour is causing increasing concern today, as many individuals have increasing levels of stress and uncertainty in their lives. This behaviour can be due to factors such as anxiety, neglect, abuse, learning disabilities and conditions like dementia. Understanding the causes of challenging behaviour is the first step towards finding ways to support individuals and manage their behaviour.

Understanding Children and Young People’s Mental Health

Mental Health problems affect around 1 in 10 children and young people. These issues include depression, anxiety and conduct disorder and can often be a direct response to occurrences in their lives. Emotional well-being is just as important as a child’s mental health; therefore it is important for those working with children and young people to have a good understanding of the concepts, risk factors and impact of mental health.

Understanding Safeguarding and Prevent

Official data showed that over 7,500 people were referred to the Prevent programme in 2015/16. The purpose of this qualification is to support anyone who is responsible for the safeguarding of people and for helping prevent radicalisation. It gives learners an understanding of recognising the signs of abuse, how to reduce the risk radicalisation and the potential consequences of illegal online activity.
